FYI: All dogs are located in Williamston, MI (which is near Lansing, MI) unless stated otherwise at the top of their petfinder listing. We get dogs from all over the country, so we like to list where they came from as their hometown. NOTE: Marie is in foster care in Cincinnati, Ohio (with her brother Donny). Also, these two do not need to find homes together if you are only looking to adopt one dog, that is absolutely fine! Name: Donny (boy) and Marie (girl) Breed: English Pointers Size: 45-55 lbs (they are full grown) Color: Donny is Liver and White; Marie is Lemon and White Age: 9 months old Hometown: Washington Court House, Ohio Date arrived at Pointers From Oz: August 21, 2009 Their story: These two were strays that arrived at a shelter in Ohio. Our friend in Cincinnati asked if she could take them in.(she fostered Alvin for us and before that temporarily had Apollo, Lance, Stanley, and Ralph). Their personality: These two are great older puppies. They are sweet, good with people, and ready for their forever families. Other dogs: They are great with other dogs. Cats: We have not cat tested these two yet. If you have a cat and would like us to do a formal cat test for either one of them, just let us know. Kids: Donny and Marie would both be good choices for older kids (ages 5 and up). Housetraining: These two have likely not had the opportunity to live in a house before. They should take to housetraining very quickly (Pointers typically do). Fencing Needs: Donny and Marie would do well with a standard fence or invisible fence. Hunting Potential: These two would probably make fun hunting buddies, and are the right age to take out and have this be their first season. Based on their age, it is unlikely they have had any hunting training or exposure to gunfire (which could be good as it means nobody has trained them wrong yet). Remember, our first priority is to find our foster dogs wonderful homes. Birddogs could care less if they go hunting or not, they just want plenty of outdoor time and families that love them. The vast majority of the dogs we adopt go to pet homes, where they are happy to chase and point bug, butterflies, and songbirds. Only about 1% go to hunting homes (where they are still spoiled family members). Vet Stuff: Donny and Marie have been dewormed. They arrived with kennel cough, so are being treated for that. They will be starting their vaccine series soon, and be spayed/neutered in a few weeks (and get their final vaccines then).
